Bachelor of Applied Arts

Engaging in collaborative projects with members of the cultural, business, educational and government communities, the College has a relationship with the University of New Brunswick (UNB) that provides the opportunity for individuals to earn a Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAA) degree.

This articulated degree program offers a unique combination of academic and practical study. To achieve a BAA, you can begin your studies at either institution. Ultimately, you combine 2 years of visual arts education with 2 years in a university learning environment. Unique to Canada, this program is suited for students who have the desire for a program with an increased academic emphasis.

Individuals interested in the 1-year Foundation Visual Arts (FVA) Certificate program can use this towards the first year in the BAA and graduates from our 2-year Diploma programs receive 2 full years of credit towards the same degree.

Duration
The Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAA) is a 4-year degree, where you complete 2 years at UNB and 2 years at NBCCD. You are able to start the BAA at any institution, allowing for 2 years of continuous education from one institution, or you can alternate from University to College or vice versa each year.

Most students who enroll in the BAA program also graduate with a 1-year Certificate in Foundation Visual Arts (FVA) from NBCCD. Some even go on to complete a Diploma program, where you add one additional year to your 4-year BAA program – qualifying you to have a 1-year Certificate and a 2-year Diploma from NBCCD and a 4-year BAA degree from UNB in 5 years.
