“I am working in a place that I can learn something new every day and it makes me happy.”

Mitra Bakhtiar is the Studio Technician for the Digital Media program. She maintains and inventories all equipment so that it is always ready for student use. She manages 3D printing in the studio and helps the faculty whenever possible.

Mitra grew up in Iran. Before coming to Canada, Mitra was a film editor and her work has been seen all over Iran. She has been involved in the creation of a wide variety of entertainment media including movies and TV series.

After moving to Canada she started work at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. A short time later she decided to attend NBCCD as a way to learn new digital skills. She quickly fell in love with 3D design, and graduated from the Digital Media program.

After graduation, Mitra was a 3D modelling intern at CFB Gagetown, and earned a Diploma in Applied Studies Internship with honours from NBCC. She has also worked for Synthetic Imageworks in the creation of historical re-creation Virtual Reality experiences for museums.

A fun fact about Mitra: She loves to travel, visit historic sites and experience different cultures.

Gallery Section:
Mitra Bakhtiar is always on the lookout for interesting subject-matter to test her skills, and she takes joy in digitally re-creating objects and spaces down to the finest detail. She is especially interested in creating 3D architectural models, and the newly redesigned NB Craft & Design Library was renovated based on her VR mock-up.
