The purpose of the Instructional Development Program (IDP) is to equip “trainee” instructors with a comprehensive understanding of adult learning theory, diversity, and inclusion, as well as practical methods and strategies for the classroom. Upon completion of 12 credit hours in either the Bachelor of Education in Adult Education, or Master of Education in Adult Education the instructor will become a Qualified Instructor. After the requirements of IDP have been met, instructors can be supported to continue to the completion of the program as funds allow.
Due to the nuance of educational backgrounds a consultation with the Dean or Manager of Innovation and Learning Design is required to determine which path is right for you. The recommended courses listed below are from the University of New Brunswick, other programs may also be considered.
