Overview

NBCCD welcomes students of all ages, artistic experience and cultures. Our programs are designed to foster your unique creative voice and vision and prepare you for a career in a growing creative economy. We offer:

  • 1-year Certificate Programs in Foundation Visual Arts (FVA) and Advanced Studio Practice
  • 2-year Diplomas in Aboriginal Visual Arts (AVA), Ceramics, Digital Media, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Jewellery/Metal Arts, Photography and Textile Design.
  • 2+2 (4-year) Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAA) Degree with the University of New Brunswick (UNB)

PROGRAMS AND EDUCATIONAL PATH AT A GLANCE

1-Year Certificate Foundation of Visual Arts:
If you are a beginner in the field of art, craft and design, the Foundation Visual Arts (FVA) Certificate is your starting point. The 1-year, 2-semester FVA Certificate will give you a solid foundation in art, craft and design in your chosen field and prepare you to enter our Diploma programs. Click here for more info

2-Year Diplomas:
If you are a Foundation Visual Arts (FVA) graduate or have demonstrated equivalent experience and qualifications, you are ready to study for an NBCCD 2-year Diploma program. Diplomas in art, craft and design take either 4 or 6 semesters over 2 years of study, resulting in a high skill level in your chosen discipline.

You can earn a 2-year Diploma at NBCCD in: Aboriginal Visual Arts, Ceramics, Digital Media, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Jewellery/Metal Arts, Photography, Textile Design

1-Year Certificate In Advanced Studio Practice:
If you are an NBCCD Diploma graduate or have equivalent experience and qualifications, you are encouraged to apply for our 1-year post-diploma Advanced Studio Practice certificate. This is an intensive 3 semesters of career-focused advanced research in a single discipline in the areas of Aboriginal Visual Arts, Ceramics, Digital Media, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Jewellery/Metal Arts, Photography or Textile Design. 4-Year Bachelor Of Applied Arts (BAA) Degree:
If you want a degree in Applied Arts, take advantage of our special NBCCD and UNB partnership. You will take 2 years of full-time courses at the College and 2 years of full-time courses at UNB for a BAA Degree conferred by the University of New Brunswick. Click here for more info

 

 

All NBCCD programs provide:

  • opportunities to be either a full-time or part-time student.
  • an academic year consisting of 2 or 3 semesters, depending on your program of study.
  • classes scheduled from late August/early September to April for 2 semesters or to mid-June for a third semester.
  • hands-on, career-oriented, experiential, learner-centred classes with both practical and theoretical instruction.
  • award-winning and internationally recognized instructors and technicians.
  • individual attention in small classes that average 12 students.

FULL-TIME STUDENT VS. PART-TIME STUDENT:

Full-Time:
You will enrol in a College program and register for a minimum of 60% of a full course load. Students with a permanent disability must enrol in at least 40% of a full course load.

Part-Time:
You will enrol in a College program and register for less than 60% of a full course load. Part-time students with a permanent disability may enrol in less than 40% of a full course load. Direct your application request to the Registrar’s Office, nbccdregistrar@gnb.ca. Part-time applications are processed after all full-time applicants are admitted.
