Financial aid may be available for qualifying full-time and part-time students. Review the information below to see what financial aid best suits you.

  • New Brunswick Student Loan Programs

    The Government of New Brunswick and the Government of Canada work together to provide student financial assistance. Loans, grants and bursaries are available to help you access and pay your tuition and fees for post-secondary education at NBCCD.

     

    The Renewed Tuition Bursary is a program designed to help post-secondary students by providing more upfront bursary funding to students from families with the greatest financial need so that they may graduate with less debt; and increasing affordability and access for New Brunswick student financial assistance recipients choosing to attend a public or private college or university located in New Brunswick.

    PETL Training Skills and Development
    Training and Skills Development (TSD) selectively provides grants to people who meet the program criteria. The focus of the program is to help clients receive training or educational programs which will allow them to return quickly to work.

  • Awards, Bursaries, and Scholarships

    If you’d like financial assistance, you are encouraged to apply for as many awards, bursaries and scholarships as you are eligible for. Here is a list of some funding opportunities:

     

    AARAO Scholarship
    Valued at $500, the student must have attended an Atlantic Canadian high school visited by the AARAO Tour.

    NBCCD Assistance Programs

    In partnership with the Student Association (SA), the College offers a number of programs to assist students who are in financial and personal need.  Programs include:

    a) volunteering time for financial bursaries, and b) receiving fresh produce, non-perishable food, hygienic supplies and other household essentials.

     

    NBCC Foundation Awards

    The New Brunswick Community College Foundation Inc. supports as many students as funding allows. Financial assistance in the form of bursaries, scholarships and awards are available to NBCCD students.

    NB Crafts Foundation Scholarship

    The New Brunswick Crafts Foundation Inc. is a registered charitable organization, incorporated in 1989.  Its objectives are to promote craft and advance cultural arts in the province and to encourage the education of New Brunswick craftspeople.

    NBCCD Refugee Entrance Bursary

    Open to any person settled in Canada with refugee status, the NBCCD Refugee Entrance Bursary was created in response to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and Canada’s efforts to resettle refugees seeking to continue post-secondary studies.

    The bursary, which enables the refugee applicant to pay domestic tuition rates instead of international rates, will be awarded to one incoming Foundation Visual Arts applicant in September 2023 and is eligible for up to two additional years of renewal into the diploma programs.

    Welcome to New Brunswick Bursary

    This $1,250 bursary is awarded to any student who has participated in the New Brunswick International School Program or the New Brunswick Offshore Schools Program, and are enrolled in their first year of studies at a New Brunswick post-secondary education institution in fall 2022 or 2023.

    Storwell Bursary

    This $2000 bursary helps support foster children attend post-secondary schools. The student must be a foster child, who is an active member of their community, has excellent grades, and displays financial need.

    The Work Room

    The Work Room creates and updates a spreadsheet regularly with a list of scholarships and bursaries that are available to students in the region. In addition, they also have helpful tips and information about student loans, bank loans, emergency loans and more.

    Value: Multiple opportunities

    Quantity: two scholarship recipients are chosen from each of the five regions: Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies/Northwest Territories/Nunavut, British Columbia/Yukon

    DisabilityAwards.ca is an organization that advocates for increased accessibility, equal access and successful transition from high school to college through a number of scholarships and awards.

     

    The RBC Future Launch Scholarship  |  Value: $1,500

    The RBC Future Launch Scholarship will be awarded to those who show a clear vision for their future.

    • For Canadian youth between 15-29 years old
    • Enrolled part time in school or not in school at all
    • A Canadian Citizen or Permanent resident
    • Grades and transcripts are not required
    • 450 scholarships available throughout 2020
    • Not working at RBC or a dependent of someone working at RBC

    The $1,500 scholarship can be used for many different things, including:

    • Short-term courses
    • Workshops
    • Certificates
    • Necessary equipment or books

    New Brunswick Society of Retired Teachers  |  Value: Scholarship or Bursary $2500.00 each

     

    Applicants must be graduates of New Brunswick public high schools. Applicants must be in 3rd year or beyond of a Canadian university degree program or in the 2nd year or beyond of
    an accredited Canadian college program. Previous award winners are ineligible to apply.

     

     

    The New Brunswick Federation of Labour Awards

    Every year, the New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL) offers several different scholarships and bursaries. Some are open to all New Brunswick students, while others are reserved to the sons and daughters of members of local unions affiliated with the NBFL.

    Parents Need to Know Scholarship |  Value: $1000

    Being a parent while educating yourself in university can be a challenge. Parents who study are often faced with time and money constraints. That’s why ParentsNeed has created a yearly scholarship designed for students who show themselves able to find balance between studying and raising their children.

    To apply, please submit an article on the topic of how to find the right balance between studying and raising children. The article should be no less than 1000 words and no longer than 2000 words. In your article, try to include the following:

    • Describe the challenges of studying and parenting
    • Talk about things you have done to find a balance and the positive results of your actions
    • Discuss how organization can play a key role in achieving this balance

    Indigenous Students

    Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships, and Awards

    Successful futures are created through hard work, creativity, and perseverance. Each one of us has a unique potential to achieve, and for First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students, Indspire is here to help make that happen. Indspire provides hundreds of scholarships, bursaries and awards to thousands of Indigenous students every year!

    • Deadline Dates: February 1, August 1, November 1

     

    Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund For Indigenous Students

    The Ted Rogers Scholarship through Indspire is for Canadian Indigenous students starting a post-secondary program in the fall.  It is a renewable award of $2500 per year for students enrolled in a minimum two year post-secondary program to a maximum of four years.  While enrolled in post-secondary students must maintain a full-time course load to receive the renewed support each year.

    • Start Date: December 15
    • End Date: February 1
    • Requirements:
      • Students must be entering into full time studies in a first bachelor degree or first diploma program at a Canadian accredited university or college.
      • Program must be a minimum of 2 years in duration.
      • University preparatory programs in any jurisdiction are not eligible (e.g. (CEGEPs – pre-university diploma).
      • Students must be under the age of 25 and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and have a valid social insurance number.

     

    Horatio Alger Indigenous Achievement Scholarship

    The Horatio Alger Indigenous Achievement Scholarship is for Indigenous students starting a four year post-secondary program in the fall.  This is a renewable award of $2500.  While enrolled in post-secondary students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and a full-time course load to receive the renewed support each year.

    • Start Date: December 15
    • End Date: August 1
    • Requirements:
      • First Nation (status and non-status), Inuit and Métis high school students from an Indigenous community in the territories as well as attending school in the Northwest Territories, Yukon Territories, or Nunavut.
      • Enrolled full-time in a high school within Canada at time of application.
      • Starting in a four-year post-secondary program within Canada full-time in September.
      • Have a valid Social Insurance Number.

    Canadian Federation of University Women-Fredericton Scholarship
    Value: $1000 | Number: 1 awarded annually

    Awarded annually in the fall to an aboriginal female student who is a New Brunswick resident, entering the second year of a diploma program. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.
