Mi’gmaq artist Braelyn Cyr will be launching her new children’s book, Mahtoquehs Journey at the new College library located at 415 King St. Cyr is a student in the Aboriginal Visual Arts program and worked on this book over the 2018 summer months.  Of her work Cyr says “I wanted to create a children’s book that involved language and culture…Creating accessibility to culture for Aboriginal People is one step towards reconciliation and this is my small part in that movement.” Not only will Braelyn be speaking about what inspired her to create this work she will also have demos featuring the different types of art, students make in the Aboriginal Visual Arts Program. This event is family friendly so feel free to bring the kids along!
