Visiting Artist

Charles Lewton-Brain

NBCCD is thrilled to welcome metalsmith, jeweller, educator, inventor, and author Charles Lewton-Brain as our next Visiting Artist. Visiting from Calgary, Alberta, Lewton-Brain will be on campus from January 19 to 23, 2026, sharing decades of experience, innovation, and insight with students, faculty, and the wider NBCCD community.

Known worldwide as the inventor of foldforming, Lewton-Brain has reshaped contemporary metalsmithing through an approach that transforms flat sheets of metal into dramatic, organic forms. A member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and a Governor General’s Visual Arts Award recipient, he brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge to this one-week residency.
