Some Like it Slow

A Textile Design Exhibition at the George Fry Gallery

Experience Some Like it Slow, a new exhibition from the Textile Design studio at NBCCD that celebrates the beauty of time, care, and intentional creation.

Opening Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the George Fry Gallery, this exhibition features work by 20 artists, including students, faculty, and the Textile Design studio technician from NBCCD. The show will remain on display until April 1, 2026, offering visitors a chance to explore the thoughtful processes behind contemporary textile art.

The Beauty of Slow Making

In a fast-paced world, Some Like it Slow offers a meaningful counterpoint. Through handwoven, dyed, stitched, and constructed textiles, each work reflects the patience and attention required in textile creation. Every thread is carefully placed. Every material choice is considered.

The exhibition highlights a diverse range of techniques and creative approaches while sharing a common commitment to slow, mindful making. Together, these works celebrate the relationship between maker, material, and time.

“In a world that seems to move faster every year, Some Like it Slow celebrates textiles that take time,” says Jackie Bourque, Textile Design Studio Head. “Each piece reflects a process where materials are handled with care and intention. It reminds us that slowing down and being present in the act of creation is something to be valued.”
