  • New Brunswick Student Loan Programs

    The Government of New Brunswick and the Government of Canada work together to provide student financial assistance. Loans, grants and bursaries are available to help you access and pay your tuition and fees for post-secondary education at NBCCD.

    The Renewed Tuition Bursary is a program designed to help post-secondary students by providing more upfront bursary funding to students from families with the greatest financial need so that they may graduate with less debt; and increasing affordability and access for New Brunswick student financial assistance recipients choosing to attend a public or private college or university located in New Brunswick.

    PETL Training Skills and Development
    Training and Skills Development (TSD) selectively provides grants to people who meet the program criteria. The focus of the program is to help clients receive training or educational programs which will allow them to return quickly to work.

  • Awards, Bursaries, and Scholarships

    If you’d like financial assistance, you are encouraged to apply for as many awards, bursaries, and scholarships as you are eligible for. Here is a list of funding opportunities made aware to the college:

    AARAO Scholarship
    Valued at $500, the student must have attended an Atlantic Canadian high school visited by the AARAO Tour. For further information contact the NBCCD Registrar.

    NBCCD Assistance Programs
    Student Services offers a number of programs to assist students who are in financial and personal need. Programs include:

    • Food bank located in the basement floor of the main building
    • Sanitary products located in all bathrooms
    • Emergency bursaries and temporary assistance via food and gas cards

    NBCC Foundation Awards
    The New Brunswick Community College Foundation Inc. supports as many students as funding allows. Financial assistance in the form of bursaries, scholarships, and awards is available to NBCCD students.

    Welcome to New Brunswick Bursary
    This $1,250 bursary is awarded to any student who has participated in the New Brunswick International School Program or the New Brunswick Offshore Schools Program, and are enrolled in their first year of studies at a New Brunswick post-secondary education institution.

    Storwell Bursary
    This $2,000 bursary helps support foster children attend post-secondary schools. The student must be a foster child, who is an active member of their community, has excellent grades, and displays financial need.

    The Work Room
    The Work Room creates and updates a spreadsheet regularly with a list of scholarships and bursaries that are available to students in the region. In addition, they also have helpful tips and information about student loans, bank loans, emergency loans and more.

    Quantity: At least two scholarship recipients are chosen from each of the five regions: Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies/Northwest Territories/Nunavut, British Columbia/Yukon

    DisabilityAwards.ca is an organization that advocates for increased accessibility, equal access and successful transition from high school to college through a number of scholarships and awards.

    The RBC Future Launch Scholarship | Value: $1,500
    The RBC Future Launch Scholarship will be awarded to those who show a clear vision for their future.

    Eligibility:

    • Canadian youth between 15-29 years old
    • Enrolled part time in school or not in school at all
    • Canadian Citizen or Permanent resident
    • Grades and transcripts are not required
    • Not working at RBC or a dependent of someone working at RBC

    The $1,500 scholarship can be used for many different things, including:

    • Short-term courses
    • Workshops
    • Certificates
    • Necessary equipment or books and more

    New Brunswick Society of Retired Teachers | Value: Scholarship or Bursary $2,500 each
    Applicants must be graduates of New Brunswick public high schools. Applicants must be in 3rd year or beyond of a Canadian university degree program or in the 2nd year or beyond of an accredited Canadian college program. Previous award winners are ineligible to apply.

    The New Brunswick Federation of Labour Awards
    Every year, the New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL) offers several different scholarships and bursaries. Some are open to all New Brunswick students, while others are reserved to the sons and daughters of members of local unions affiliated with the NBFL.

    Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships, and Awards

Indspire provides hundreds of scholarships, bursaries, and awards to thousands of Indigenous students every year!

    Horatio Alger Indigenous Achievement Scholarship
    The Horatio Alger Indigenous Achievement Scholarship is for Indigenous students starting a four year post-secondary program in the fall.  This is a renewable award of $2500.  While enrolled in post-secondary students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and a full-time course load to receive the renewed support each year.

    Start Date: May 1
    End Date: August 1

    • Requirements:
      • Status First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students must be in their final year of high school
      • Students whose home Indigenous communities are in the Northwest or Yukon Territories or Nunavut
      • Enrolled full-time in a high school within Canada at time of application
      • Starting in a four-year post-secondary program within Canada full-time in September
      • Have a valid Social Insurance Number

    Canadian Federation of University Women-Fredericton Scholarship
    Value: $1000 | Number: 1 awarded annually
    Awarded annually in the fall to an aboriginal female student who is a New Brunswick resident, entering the second year of a diploma program. Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.
