Alumni Awards

The NBCCD Alumni Awards program honours the makers, leaders, and emerging voices whose work reflects the spirit of curiosity, innovation, and community that defines the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (NBCCD).

From established artists and designers who lead with vision, to those creating meaningful impact in their communities, to recent graduates building their first creative pathways, these awards recognize the many ways alumni carry the legacy of the college forward. Each year, awards will be given out at a ceremony to celebrate the selected recipients who are shaping the world through art, craft, and design.

We invite you to explore the award categories below and nominate individuals whose creativity and dedication continue to inspire the NBCCD community. Self-nominations are acceptable.

Leadership in Craft and Design Award

This Alumni Award celebrates someone who leads by example. Someone whose creative work, ideas, or initiatives have made a real difference in the fields of craft and design. The nominee could be an artist who built a successful studio that now mentors emerging makers, a designer who created a sustainable product line that supports local materials, or someone who founded a creative business that gives opportunities to others. They show what it means to be both a maker and a thinker, using their skills to inspire others and to move the creative community forward in a meaningful way.

Community Impact Award

This Alumni Award goes to a person who uses their creativity to connect people and make a difference. It could be an artist who offers community workshops, a designer who brings people together through collaborative projects, or someone who helps youth or newcomers discover their creative voice. They remind us that craft and design can build bridges, bring people together, and create change in quiet and powerful ways.

Emerging Alumni Award

This Alumni Award recognizes a recent graduate who is finding their own voice and building a creative path with curiosity and courage. It might be a ceramic artist exhibiting their first collection, a jewellery designer growing an online shop, or a photographer who booked their first gig. They may still be experimenting and learning, but they are doing it with dedication and love for their craft. This award celebrates that early energy that keeps our creative community alive and growing.
