Are you a mature student interested in increasing your technical skills? Looking to develop skills that will enhance your career or business? Or already completed a BFA and want to further your exploration of visual art and design through concentrated study in a specific discipline?

The Studio Studies certificate of achievement brings you into the studio to practice design thinking and problem solving in your medium of choice. Certificate students are taught alongside students in our diploma programs.

Depending on diploma program seat availability, this program may be offered in Textile Design, Ceramics, Fashion, Jewellery/Metal Arts, Photography, Graphic Design, and 3D Digital Design. The program disciplines open to Studio Studies applicants will be announced on this page if seats become available.

  • Areas of Study

    Program participants tailor their studies to meet their individual interests, subject to course availability. The certificate program will be comprised of 80% studio classes and 20% electives.

  • Mature Student Eligibility
    • You are 21 years or older at the time of applying and do not meet the regular admission requirements. You have training and experience in the discipline you’d like to study, making you eligible to apply for any of our programs. You must also show you’re ready to successfully complete the program.

    • $50 Application Fee (1)
    • Select “mature student” on the application form
    • An official transcript of marks indicating Certificate – Foundation Visual Arts (FVA) from NBCCD OR
    • An official transcript of marks indicating at least 1 year post-secondary education OR equivalent experience (2)
    • Application Package

    (1) The $50 application fee is in Canadian dollars, applies to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents and is non-refundable and subject to change without notice. International applicants pay a $100 Canadian application fee. See International Students for more information.

    (2) Equivalent experience is determined by the College assessing your combination of learning and experience through recognition of prior learning.
