NBCCD announces refugee entrance bursary

March 16, 2023 – Fredericton, NB

NBCCD is announcing a new refugee entrance bursary, designed to remove financial barriers and empower Canada-based refugees to pursue an education in fine craft and design.

Open to any person settled in Canada with refugee status, the NBCCD Refugee Entrance Bursary was created in response to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and Canada’s efforts to resettle refugees seeking to continue post-secondary studies.

The bursary, which enables the refugee applicant to pay domestic tuition rates instead of international rates, will be awarded to one incoming Foundation Visual Arts applicant in September 2023 and is eligible for up to two additional years of renewal if accepted into an NBCCD diploma program. NBCCD will automatically apply the bursary award (difference between international and domestic tuition rates) to the students’ tuition account in September of the applicable years.

The domestic tuition rate for the 2022-2023 academic year is $3,382 per academic year and the international tuition rate is $9,452 per academic year.

To qualify, the recipient must continue to be a full-time student at NBCCD in good academic standing.

Foundation Visual Arts applicants who meet the qualifications of this bursary are welcome to apply for this bursary once they have submitted a complete application to the FVA certificate program and been accepted.

Applicants meeting bursary eligibility criteria can apply online at nbccd.ca/refugeebursary through the designated bursary form. Deadline to apply: July 1, 2023.

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The selected bursary recipient will be notified by July 15, 2023.
