It’s time to cultivate your creativity and design your life!

Welcome to NBCCD, where you’ll spend the next chapter of your life expanding your creative horizons and making connections that will last a lifetime.

Our unique community is defined by a passion for fine craft and design and a shared desire to design a meaningful life and regenerative future.

Below are the details and schedules for our Orientation 2023 activities.

Orientation 2023 Events:

FVA Online orientation

Wednesday, August 30, 1pm – 2:30pm

  • For FVA Online students only. This session will introduce you to NBCCD faculty, staff, and students. A chance to test your technical systems, you’ll be onboarded into the Google Classroom, learn about online supports offered by our College Counsellor and Learning Strategist, and spend time getting to know your fellow online classmates!
  • Instructions for attendance will be provided directly to Online Students via email.
  • Students enrolled in the online program who are able to attend the in-person orientations (see below) are encouraged to attend both.
Setting Up for Success

Thursday, August 31, 8:30am – 12pm 

  • Whether you are registered with Accessibility Services, or prefer smaller groups, Setting Up for Success is a pre-orientation event geared toward students who want to get to know the college in a more relaxed setting and learn tips and tricks to support their success. Please note this event is not meant to replace college-wide orientation.

International Student Orientation

Thursday, August 31, 12pm – 5pm 

  • This session is for new international students beginning their studies at NBCCD this September. Meet current international students; discover campus support services; learn how to navigate bank accounts, cell phones, health insurance, and your first Canadian winter; and enjoy a classic Canadian meal with new friends.

College-Wide Orientation

Friday, September 1, 8:30am – 1 pm 

  • Join us for a fun-filled day of college tours, games, a BBQ, and more. You will get a more detailed schedule leading up to September 1. Scroll down for the current schedule.
  • You do not need to register for this event.
  • Please note: This orientation is offered to all students who will be starting classes for the first time at NBCCD Fredericton. Recent FVA Online and FVA Saint John grads newly attending the Fredericton campus are welcome. Returning students are invited to a breakfast and studio-specific orientation on the first day of classes. Your studio will provide details. Incoming FVA Online students will be invited to an online orientation session. Check your NBCCD email for details.

 

All events take place in Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT).

Before Orientation:

  • Submit your photo for your Student ID card:
  • All new students must submit their photo for their Student ID card here as soon as possible. Your student ID card is not only your access to the building, but it’s also your Fredericton Transit pass! Make sure you read the requirements when you click on the link to submit your photo, or it will be rejected. If you did not collect your ID card on the first day of classes, please visit the Student Services Centre on the 3rd floor of our Main Building or email jaime.butler@gnb.ca.
