Dr. Carrie Nolan to depart as College Director of NBCCD

After four impactful years serving as College Director at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, Dr. Carrie Nolan has announced her decision to step down from her role. Dr. Nolan will be transitioning to pursue her speaking and facilitation business full-time, marking the conclusion of a remarkable chapter in her leadership journey.

During her tenure, Dr. Carrie Nolan exemplified visionary leadership, driving transformative initiatives that have significantly shaped the college’s trajectory. Notable achievements include:

  • Development and execution of a comprehensive strategic plan, setting the course for the college’s future growth and success.
  • Establishment of EDI and gender training programs, fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
  • Financial stewardship resulting in a notable turnaround, with deficits reduced and the attainment of the first surplus in five years, even amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic.
  • Advancement in operational efficiency through the creation of new positions and successful management of campus operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Implementation of strategic projects including capital investments and the introduction of innovative learning management systems.
  • Enhancement of academic offerings with the launch of new programs and the establishment of quality assurance processes.
  • Strengthening of student support services, contributing to increased enrolment and student success.

Transition Leadership

Jared Peters will assume the role of College Director effective Monday, May 6. Jared’s extensive experience within the college community, coupled with his exceptional leadership skills, uniquely position him to take on this pivotal role. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from UNB, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD, and a Masters of Fine Arts from Western. Jared’s tenure as Dean, coupled with his previous roles as Instructor and Studio Coordinator, has equipped him with a deep understanding of the college’s ethos and mission.

Anna Mathis will step into the role of Interim Dean, bringing a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to the college’s mission. Anna’s journey at NBCCD, from learner to business owner, instructor, and Manager of Innovation and Learning Design, uniquely positions her to guide the college through this transitional phase. Her academic pursuits include a diploma in Textiles, a Bachelors of Adult Education from UNB, and she is on track to complete her Master’s in Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship from Queens this July.
