The One to Watch – David Gomez

The David and Nancy Holt Award for Professionalism – Marianna Lewis

The Inge Pataki Excellence Award – Isel Lopez

Brigitte Clavette, Instructor, states that these two exhibitions are the culmination of two years of focused work in Jewellery/Metal arts at NBCCD. The opportunity to show alongside the students from OCADU and NSCADU and to have some of their work traveling is a great learning opportunity as well. Brigitte Clavette founded the annual student jewellery exhibition STERLING 18 years ago in collaboration with Gallery 78 and Government House. Over the years this exhibition has helped launch the careers of our students, by providing with public exposure and by being offered the opportunity to win the solo exhibition at Gallery 78. This exhibition is a “thank you” to our students for choosing to study with us.

Learn moreJewellery/Metal Arts

Jewellery/Metal Arts is a two-year studio-based Diploma program that can be completed in four semesters of study. The program enables students to learn skills that transform metal into functional and non-functional objects. It provides intensive skill development by introducing students to sawing, filing, soldering, riveting and stone-setting. Students use Computer-Assisted Design (CAD), mould-making and casting technologies to experiment in making multiple designs. Through advanced processes such as complex construction, forging and silversmithing, they establish an individual artistic practice. Through applied research, critical discourse and self-reflection, students engage in experimentation and creative problem solving. They learn about written and visual communications for artists and entrepreneurs, art history, drawing and 2D/3D design. They create a portfolio that celebrates the power of the imagination and can be used to launch their career.
