Sterling Exhibition

20th Annual Sterling Exhibition

Celebrate the talent, precision, and creativity of NBCCD’s Jewellery/Metal Arts students at Sterling 2026, the 20th annual edition of this longstanding exhibition.

Hosted at Government House, Sterling showcases exceptional work by first- and second-year students, highlighting their exploration of form, technique, and material in contemporary metal arts. This annual exhibition offers a glimpse into the next generation of makers shaping the field through craftsmanship and innovation.

A Legacy of Making

Sterling was founded by Brigitte Clavette, a renowned metalsmith, educator, and former head of NBCCD’s Jewellery and Metal Arts program. Her vision established a platform for students to present their work in a professional setting while connecting with the broader community.

Visit the Exhibition

Sterling 2026 is free and open to the public. Visitors are invited to explore a diverse collection of finely crafted works, from wearable pieces to conceptual explorations in metal.

Proudly supported by Gallery 78, this exhibition continues to celebrate the strength of NBCCD’s Jewellery/Metal Arts program and its impact on the craft community in New Brunswick and beyond.

DiplomaJewellery/Metal Arts

Jewellery/Metal Arts is a two-year studio-based Diploma program that can be completed in four semesters of study. The program enables students to learn skills that transform metal into functional and non-functional objects. It provides intensive skill development by introducing students to sawing, filing, soldering, riveting and stone-setting. Students use Computer-Assisted Design (CAD), mould-making and casting technologies to experiment in making multiple designs. Through advanced processes such as complex construction, forging and silversmithing, they establish an individual artistic practice.
