The Jewellery/Metal Arts program of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design invites current students and alumni of the program to submit design proposals for a trophy or similar decorative object (fashioned primarily in metal) to celebrate and honour recipients of the Brigitte Clavette Award. The design should be wall-mounted and/or appropriate for display on conventional shelving. Design proposals should not exceed 48 inches in any direction.
Submissions will be adjudicated by a jury comprised of NBCCD faculty and staff. Three finalists will each receive an award of $250. The winning proposal will secure an additional $1,250 in order to realize their proposed design (due March 2023).
Please submit a brief written proposal (300 words max.) detailing the aesthetic and conceptual intentions of your proposed design, as well as accompanying images (sketches, drawings, etc.: 5 images max), to jared.peters@gnb.ca by November 4, 2022.
About the Brigitte Clavette Award: Awarded annually in NBCCD’s Advanced Studio Practice program, the Brigitte Clavette Award is conferred to the student who submits the most successful portfolio as determined by a jury comprised of NBCCD faculty. This award is funded by the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, and is named to honour Brigitte Clavette, an award-winning artist and an influential senior instructor in NBCCD’s Jewellery/Metal Arts Program.
