Important Note: Almost all students at NBCCD begin in the one-year Foundation Visual Arts (FVA) program to hone the skills needed for success in our two-year diploma programs. If you have previous academic experience in visual and fine arts, you may be eligible to apply as a direct-entry candidate to the diploma program of your choosing. We encourage any applicants who are unsure of their eligibility to review the Portfolio Requirements for Direct Entry; and if doable, apply Direct Entry before December 15 so we can pre-assess your portfolio. If it’s determined that your portfolio does not meet direct entry requirements, we will email you and offer to change your application to FVA. By applying before December 15, you ensure your amended application is considered within the priority deadline for FVA admission assessments. If you do not hear from the admissions office, you will be assessed for direct entry with all priority candidates after the January 15 deadline.

(INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)

    Identify the PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS for your program of choice, including the specific transcript and portfolio you will need to apply.

    Pay your application fee within your applicant portal as you complete your application form.

    We accept applications until our programs are full, but for the best chance of obtaining one of our limited seats, complete your application to our first-year program, Foundation Visual Arts, by December 15 of the year before your intended entry. Our FVA year is offered in-person in Fredericton, as well as online.

    If applying into a two-year diploma program, applications must be received by January 15.

    After submitting your application you can upload your portfolio, navigate to the applicant portal, select “My Applications,” and click on your application ID.

    Your transcript(s) must be sent via email to nbccd.admissions@gnb.ca from your current/former school(s) to be considered official.

    Students whose language of academic instruction was not completed in English may also be required to submit an official test of English Language Proficiency.

IMPORTANT!
Your application for full-time studies is not complete until all steps are fulfilled. The admissions team will assess your complete application and provide a decision letter by email in a timely manner. If accepted, we’ll also send along your next steps to become a student at NBCCD.

I was accepted! What's next?

You can find details of next steps in your decision letter from NBCCD. Any changes will be communicated via email.

  1. Upon receiving your official or conditional acceptance letter from the College, you must pay a non-refundable confirmation fee within 30 days to secure your spot in the program: $250 CAD for domestic students and $2,000 CAD confirmation fee and $600 health insurance fee for international students. This fee will be applied toward your full-time tuition.

  2. If you receive a CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE, submit any outstanding items as soon as they are available. They must be received before you register in the fall. Registration details will be emailed to all students.
  3. Receive your ORIENTATION PACKAGE by email in early August. Attend your first day of classes as indicated, in early September.
  4. Pay your TUITION & FEES no later than the first Friday of classes.

  5. International students must obtain information regarding their student permit applications directly from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
