Convocation 2023 Schedule

10:00am – Arrive at college for gown pick-up (Note: students can pick up gowns until 12:30pm)

12:30pm — Return to college for processional line-up 

1:30pm — Doors open at Fredericton Playhouse for your guests to take their seats 

1:30pm — Grads begin processional walk to the Fredericton Playhouse 

2:00pm — Convocation 

4:00pm — Reception at NBCCD (additional guests welcome) and gown return/diploma pick-up

5:00pm — Private Opening Reception for the Diploma Exhibition (details below)

Graduation Gown Pick-up

Gowns and stoles will be available for pick-up the morning of convocation starting at 10:00am. Before you are able to take your gown and stole, you will be required to sign a rental agreement indicating that you will return your gown. Gowns must be returned to the college after the convocation ceremony/reception.

Accessibility

There will be two ASL interpreters present for hearing-impaired guests.

Grad Show/Diploma Exhibition 

The 2023 Grad Show will privately open for graduating diploma and ASP students on the evening of convocation, June 9, from 5-7pm at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.  The public exhibition runs June 10 – August 27.

Tickets

Digital tickets were emailed to each graduate on May 25, 2023 via email. If you no longer require your ticket(s) or need to request extra seats for friends and family members, please email Student Life Coordinator Jaime Butler at jaime.butler@gnb.ca. Guests must have a valid ticket to enter convocation.

Note: Additional ticket requests after May 25 will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis based on availability and subject to the discretion of the Student Life Coordinator.

Grad Cap Pick-up

Students may pick-up their mortar board on June 2 and 3 in the Student Services Centre.

Rules for decorating your mortar board:– Designs cannot be higher than 4” above the top of the board– Designs cannot be more than 1” beyond the edge of the board– Your face must be visible– You must have the ability to move the tassel from left to right (keep button on top exposed)– Individual studios are welcome to come up with a unified theme, but this is not necessary

Photography 

We have hired professional photographer (and NBCCD grad!), Kelly Baker, to take photos of every graduate as they cross the stage. These photos will be provided in an online gallery to students free of charge. Students will be responsible for printing their own photos.   

Convocation Livestream 

Convocation will be livestreamed via our official YouTube channel. The livestream will be publicly visible so additional friends and family can tune in virtually. YouTube’s livestream chat can display congratulatory comments from virtual guests for you to enjoy upon later viewing. The convocation recording will be made permanently available on our YouTube channel the following week.
