Welcome to the George Fry Gallery at NBCCD!
Open to the public, the NBCCD gallery showcases craft and design work of NBCCD students, faculty, staff, and invited artists in a schedule of regularly changing exhibitions. It is an exciting learning resource and features a wide range of makers, materials, and processes. It is also home to our annual Craft Sale, which provide students with an opportunity to showcase the skills gained in their entrepreneurship classes by marketing and selling their work in a public venue. Gallery exhibitions promote and demonstrate professionalism, enhance student employability, and contribute to the economic and cultural life of Canada. Experience Unfunctional, a new exhibition from the Ceramics program at NBCCD that challenges traditional ideas of form and purpose.
On display from April 9 to 29, 2026, at the George Fry Gallery, Unfunctional features work by 18 artists, including students, faculty, and technicians. Together, these works explore what happens when function is no longer the primary focus, and creative expression takes the lead.

George Fry served as Director of the Craft School (now the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design) from 1976 to 1993. He was an enthusiastic promoter of fine craft and fine-craft artisans, achieving recognition for New Brunswick artists across Canada and internationally. He was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for a lifetime of contributions to the arts, and he continued to make, exhibit and inspire fine art and craft until his death in 2014.
